Definitely, it’s from their personal work you get to know what they are most passionate about. It’s often from personal work that inspired commission work.

 

How do you personally keep up to date with photography? (ie exhibitions, magazines etc)

 

It’s a combination of going to shows, looking through magazines, particularly fashion magazines, books and websites. If I come across a photographer’s work in a magazine who I’ve not heard of, I would make contact to see their work. Magazines are a great showcase for photographer’s work, it allows them to be so much more creative than in commissioned work and through the magazines they’re able to reach a much wider audience.
