Do you see many photographers?

I do make a point of seeing photographers as I like to hear from them personally what they’re most passionate about. I would spend up to an hour with each photographer, from the meeting I would get a sense of their personality and what they like and dislike.

When you’re selecting a photographer that you’ve met, do you take into account their personality for the client/shoot? (ie if you need a portrait or a photographer to work with people or kids?)

I do take into consideration the photographer’s personality before considering them for a job. I would think about the personality of the Art Director and the photographer as when they’re on a shoot they need to work closely so they both need to be on the same wave length.

What traits are ideal in a photographer (ie patience, attention to detail, ability to work as part of a team?) What makes the working relationship easier?

I would say attention to detail, bringing that extra something to a shoot, understanding of the brief, the ability to work as part of a team and plenty of patience.
